It’s a New Year, a new page on the calendar, an open book waiting to be written, a fresh garden to be planted, and an opportunity for contemplating life’s directional choices. I’m a bit slow to step up to the plate, however. I’ve been savoring the Holiday Season, unwilling to tackle the tasks teed up on my list. A meeting at the Texas Pool with representatives from the Plano Conservancy and Greenwood Hills Community Club this week refreshed my navigational beacon.
When the gates close after Memorial Day, projects and planning get started on the Foundation side of operations. Our pre-application for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places was submitted to the Texas Historical Commission and they decided our case has merit. Henceforth, they will be working with the Plano Conservancy and me to put together the official National Register application packet. I am grateful for the support and expertise. Preserving the Texas Pool has been my passion for the past 10 years. Looking back, that's quite an investment. Looking ahead, as the Texas Pool prepares to open for its 57th summer season, we are close to achieving many preservation goals. In 2018, I’ll be working with a fantastic BOD (Board of Directors) team with opportunities for community involvement and volunteering. Plan to get your feet wet as we dive in for another historic #SwimAcrossTexas!
