Sixty years ago in Plano, Texas, a now famous Texan, W. Herbert Hunt,  driving North on Central expressway gazed out upon the vast acres of ranch land, and had a vision. That vision would later transform the area into what would become Central Plano and Dallas’ Telecom Corridor. Nestled in one of Plano’s first neighborhoods, between President George Bush Turnpike and Central Expressway, the Texas Pool was designed to be an innovative promotional real estate concept that gave birth to a Texas-sized tradition.

Today, help is needed to restore and support this local landmark. Located just around the corner from Historic Downtown Plano, the Texas Pool provides a saltwater summertime oasis for families and a tourism boost with economic benefit to the Dallas area and City of Plano. The Texas Pool has been featured in the worldwide media,  appearing most recently in the New York Times. Recognized as a local historic landmark, the Texas Pool provides a tourism boost with economic benefit to the Dallas area and City of Plano. With support from the Plano Conservancy and the Texas Historical Commission, the Texas Pool is now listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

The Texas Pool is yet another reason why folks choose Plano for work, school, home, and play. Plano has been rated nationwide as #3 in the Top 20 Safest Cities in America and in Money’s Top 25 Places to Live in the US, a National Recreation and Parks Association Gold Medal winner for Excellence. Plano has been determined to be the #1 Best City to Find a Job. Truly, "everything's bigger in Texas" and at the historic Texas Pool in Plano.

In 2020, the neighborhood surrounding the historic Texas Pool is economically diverse and is poised at the edge of fantastic growth and development within the Historic District of Plano. The future is bright for Texas families and for business. In partnering with the Texas Pool Foundation, individuals, local businesses, and corporate sponsors have an opportunity to support a local landmark, serve the community, and “Swim Across Texas.”
